The year is 2098, humanity has been mostly wiped out following a nuclear war between the world’s superpowers fighting over depleting fossil fuel resources. The resulting wasteland is mostly uninhabitable with soil unfit for growing food and animals being mutated and irradiated beyond the point of feasible consumption. All central authority (governments, armies, police) has been destroyed leading to widespread lawlessness. Nevertheless, small settlements have begun being rebuilt from pre-war ruins and scrap, with communities banding together what few resources are left to survive aiming to re-build the planet bit-by-bit.
Whilst exploring outside of your local town, you stumble across an underground vault shielded to the point where it has not been damaged by the apocalypse. Within it you find multiple cryogenic pods full of people. As you read the computer logs you find proof that the people within the pods were put there as part of an experiment and are completely unaware of the apocalypse, now living an "lithuanicana” computer simulation, where they are led to believe they all live in a small, cozy, extremely friendly Lithuanian town (that has an ežeriukas nearby). You see one empty pod. If you enter the pod, you keep your memories, and are thus the only person aware that the town is a simulation but will remain in the simulation until death.
